Major General Farouk Yahaya is a Nigerian Army and the current Nigerian Chief of Army Staff. He was born on the 5th of January, 1966 in Sifawa, Bodinga Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
On the 27th of May, 2021, he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the Chief of Army Staff following the death of Lt. Gen Ibrahim Attahiru.
Education
Major General Farouk Yahaya is an alumnus of the University of Salford, Manchester, England. On the 27th of September, 1985, he joined the Nigerian Defence Academy and was commissioned into the Nigerian Army Infantry Corps on 22 September 1990.
Career
Major General Farouk Yahaya joined the Nigerian Army as a member of 37 Regular Course of the Nigerian Defense Academy Kaduna. He was a commander of the Division 1 of the Nigerian Army.
He was the Theatre Commander of the Counter-Terrorism Counter Insurgency military involved in the fight against Boko Haram terrorist group in the North-Eastern region of Nigeria with the code name Operation HADIN KAI.
He served as the commander of the 4 Brigade Headquarters of the Nigerian Army in Edo State.
He has held several positions in the Nigerian Army including

In May 2021, Maj. Gen. Farouk Yahaya was appointed the Chief of Army Staff by President Buhari six days after the death of Lt. Gen. Attahiru.
