Haliru Nababa

Haliru Nababa is a Nigerian law enforcement agent and the current Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). He hails from Sokoto State, Nigeria.

Education

He had his primary school education at Demonstration Primary School, Sokoto in 1975. After that, he enrolled in Government Secondary School, Tangaza where he obtained his West African School Certificate in 1980. He is an alumnus of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, where he obtained a Bachelors’s degree in history and a diploma in Criminology in 1988 and 1996 respectively.

Career

Haliru Nababa joined the Nigerian Prisons Service, (NPS) on the 13th of August, 1990, as an Assistant Superintendent of Prisons. On the 1st of January, 2018, he rose to the rank of Assistant Controller General of Corrections. He was later appointed as Deputy Controller General of Corrections on the 26th of August, 2020, and he covered duties in the Directorate of Finance and Accounts.

In February 2021, he was appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari as the new Controller General of the Nigeria Correctional Service (NCos). His appointment is subject to the Senate’s confirmation in line with the provisions of the New Act establishing the NCoS 2019.
