His career kicked off at the Usmanu Danfodio University, Sokoto where he was a lecturer in the Faculty of Education until he was transferred later to the Faculty of Education, Federal University of Technology, Minna. Wushishi was Head of Department, Science Education, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai.
He was a Postgraduate Coordinator, Department of Science Education, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Sub-Dean School of Science and Science Education, FUT, Minna; Head of Department, Department of Science Education, FUT Minna.
Prior to his appointment as Registrar of NECO, Prof. Wushishi was a Professor of Science Education (Chemistry) at the Federal University of Technology, Minna. An erudite scholar, Prof. Wushishi has many scholarly publications to his credit.
Following the death of the former Registrar of NECO, Professor Godswill Obioma who died on May 31, 2021, President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi as Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO) on the 12th of July, 2021.
