Mr Macaroni whose real name is Adebowale Adebayo is a comedian, MC, Content Creator, Actor/Producer for Tv, Film, Stage, Radio, and Online Media. He was born on the 3rd of May but the year of his birth isn’t public knowledge yet.
Mr Macaroni hails from Ogun State but was raised in Ojota, Lagos by his parents. His mother is an Educationist while his father is a Journalist and they both had 10 children, 6 girls, and 4 boys. He is the last child.
He started acting right from a young age as he played a role in Williams Shakespeare’s Merchant of Vernice while he was in primary 6 and he was also very good in mimicking as he was fond of mimicking Pastor Chris Oyakhilome.
In 2014, in a bid to pursue his acting career, he joined the PEFTI film institute while he was out of school. After attending numerous auditions, he finally landed a role in a Halima Abubakar-produced movie titled ‘Mistresses’ which was directed by Ifeanyi Ogbonna. Prior to the Instagram success, he had already featured in popular movies and soap operas like Wale Adenuga’s Super Story, Papa Ajasco, Family Ties, Jenifa’s Diary, House 31, Royal Outlaw, and also Face 2 Face. He wrote and directed the Yoruba movie titled ‘Oba Ara’.
Before joining the bandwagon of comedians on Instagram making comedy skits, Mr Macaroni has been an actor and always stated that he will never go into Instagram comedy skits due to his level of education in Creative Arts and the fact that he had already being featured in movies and soap operas. On seeing the feedback from fans of other Instagram comedians and as the movie roles were no longer coming in that much, Mr Macaroni had to finally swallow his pride and utilize Instagram to show his talent to more people.
Mr Macaroni’s comedy style is one that can’t be imitated or replaced easily as he has many features that are very distinctive. He is well known for his signatory costume, a brown agbada, his eyeglass, and pattern of removing his eyeglass to express shock and also his exclamations, ‘Ooin’, ‘Freaky Freaky’, ‘Fantabulous’, ‘You are doing well’. He always portrays himself as the affluent and raunchy man who can do anything for any endowed lady.
He got the name ‘Mr Macaroni’ when he appeared on the sitcom ‘Face 2 Face’ just after he left Houdegbe North American University. He was taken up an extra role and the director needed a name for his character and that was how Mr Macaroni coined the name.
Mr Macaroni’s educational journey wasn’t as smooth as most youths have it as he had to go through quite a lot to obtain his first degree and the fact that he got the degree at the end speaks a lot of him and his resilience.
For his primary school education, he attended Tendercare School in Ojota, after which he joined Babcock University High School for his secondary education and graduated in 2009.
On completing his secondary education, he enrolled in Lead City University to study law but at 200 level, he came to realize that the law department in the institution wasn’t accredited and he had to leave the school. With a desperate desire to study law, he secured another admission at Houdegbe North American University in, Coutono, Benin to study law. During an examination at the school, he had a rift with one of the lecturers that almost got physical and the school made him leave.
Even tho he had passion for acting, he decided to study law because he never likes to see people being cheated but while pursing law, he started becoming more confrontational, highly opinionated, and somewhat aggressive so he decided to leave law and go back to his first love, Theatre Arts.
He decided to study Creative Arts this time around and enrolled in Afe Babalola University in Ekiti State to study Creative Arts. During his stay at the university, he was one day informed by the Dean Of Studies that the institution hasn’t really started offering Creative Arts, but he can go for English. The idea of studying English didn’t really sit well with him and once again he left the school angrily.
He finally gained admission again into Redeemer’s University in Osun State where he applied to study theatre arts. His stay in the school was all good as he was the president of the Student body (Redeemers University Student Association) and he completed his course at the University.
Few days to his graduation, Mr Macaroni took to Facebook to make some remark about some staff of the school. The post which is shown in the image below was considered offensive by the school as they felt the comment put the school in a bad light in the eyes of the public and Mr Macaroni was expelled from the University, just a few days to his graduation.
The decision of the University to expel him didn’t sit well with his parents as they sued the University. They later resolved the issue out of court and the school retracted her statement and Mr Macaroni finally graduated with a second-class upper in theatre arts.
He also completed his National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) program in 2020 and his tertiary education took 10 years to complete.
Mr Macaroni’s estimated net worth in 2020 in Naira is ₦48 million. Before becoming an Instagram sensation, Mr Macaroni has been an MC, anchoring events and has featured in a couple of Nigerian movies which has been his source of income. With Instagram fame, he now has more source of income as he now earns from promoting brands/businesses through his comedy skits, and also from monetizing his videos on YouTube and Facebook.
