Mirtha Jung (Born Mirtha Calderon) is a Cuban poet, writer, and entrepreneur. She was born on the 3rd of December, 1952 in Cuba and came into the limelight after the release of the movie ‘Blow’ in 2001.
The movie ‘Blow’ was about her ex-husband George Jung who was a drug smuggler. In the movie, Penelope Cruz played Mirtha Jung’s role in the movie while the role of George Jung was played by Johnny Depp
Career
Mirtha Jung was a notorious drug smuggler, a profession that her former husband, George Jung introduced her to.
Before they got divorced they smuggled drugs for a long period of time and according to reports, Mirtha helped George in smuggling drugs from Colombia to America. She and her ex-husband worked with the Medellin Cartel.
Mirtha was a drug addict and couldn’t help it, so much that when she was pregnant with her daughter Kristina, she continued to consume drugs against doctors’ advice.
The law eventually caught up with her and she was sentenced to 3 years of imprisonment when her daughter, Kristina was still a baby. During her time in prison, she decided to change her ways and made deliberate efforts to quit taking drugs.
In 1981, she was released from prison and has since then turned her life around and stayed away from drugs.
Mirtha came into the limelight in 2001 when the movie ‘Blow’ was released. The movie was about her ex-husband, George Jung.
Mirtha Jung and George Jung Love Life & Marriage
George and Mirtha met each other in Columbia through one of George’s coc*ine friends. At the time when they met each other, Mirtha was 24 years old and 10 years younger than George.
They even fell in love and dated each other for some yer and eventually got married in 1977.
On the 1st of August, 1978, they had their first child, a daughter named Kristina Sunshine Jung. A few years later their marriage hit rock bottom and they eventually got divorced in 1984.
After the divorce, George got remarried to Ronda Clay Spinelli and in May 2021, George died.
Personal Life
When she was still married to George Jung they had a daughter, Kristina Sunshine Jung who was raised by her grandparents after her parents were arrested for drug trafficking.
After Mirtha’s release from prison, she has since turned her life around and stayed away from drugs.
Her daughter, Kristina is currently married to Romain Karan.
