Tunde Ednut whose real name is Tunde Olaoluwa Adekunle formerly a comedian and musician is a Nigerian blogger/Entertainer and unarguably one of the most influential Nigerians on Instagram.

He was born on the 20th of January 1986  and hails from Kabba, Kogi State. Tunde is the first son and second child in a family of 5, both parents are lecturers and he has only one sister. He was born in Katsina State, the Northern region of Nigeria where he spent the early days of his childhood before relocating to Lagos state with his family. He is like a jack of all trades as he has tried comedy and music, and is currently a blogger. He currently has over 5.5 million followers on Instagram, a self-acclaimed Star maker as he has used his platform to promote a good number of Nigerian Instagram comedians and up-and-coming Nigerian musicians. Tunde Ednut is on the list of the most-followed Nigerian celebrities on Instagram.

He completed his primary school education at Cambridge International School and schooled at Federal Government College Ugwolawo, Kogi State for his secondary education. He was also a student at the University of Lagos where he studied Graphics Art/3D Effects before he moved to the Kingsland University of London where he got a degree in Graphic Design.

Comedy Career

Tunde Ednut started off as a comedian. In 2007, Tunde Ednut was invited to perform at the Dynamiks Awards in Nigeria. The award show was a big deal, it had a good number of top media and entertainment names in attendance. Tunde delivered an amazing comedy show and his performance received a standing ovation.

Unknown to him, his life was about to take a major turn for a brighter future. During his performance, Tunde caught the attention of some top media names at that time such as; Femi Amusan and the Black Nights Entertainment crew (A top Nigerian entertainment company based in the Uk at that time). Following his amazing display of talent on stage, Tunde was invited for a performance in the UK, and as the saying goes, the rest is history. Tunde was fortunate to gain some maximum exposure for his brand and he moved on to perform alongside some of the biggest names currently topping the charts in and out of Africa.

Music Career

Tunde relocated to Nigeria from the U.K. to pursue a career in music and had a short stint in the music career as his musical career was short-lived. He released songs like ‘Kosowo’, ‘Baby Boo’, ‘Philomena’, ‘Jingle Bell Bell’ feat. M.I, Orezi, and Falz, and his most successful record was the remix of Catching Cold which featured Dr Sid. He also owned a record label back then called Nutcase Record.

He was a member of his church choir at a young age and had a passion for music right from his childhood days but in an interview with Ebuka on Rubbin Minds, he revealed that he got into music not just because of passion but majorly for the money.

On the 18th of December, 2020, Tunde Ednut returned back to his musical career, releasing yet another version of his previous song ‘Jingle Bell‘ but this time around he featured Davido, Seun Kuti, & Tiwa Savage.

Blogging Career

On relocating to Atlanta in the US, He decided to start using his official Instagram page for sharing trending news/gist, comedy videos, and whatnot. At the time, his page had a substantial amount of followers as he was already a celebrity and a controversial one at that.

The news/gist and hilarious content on his page have grown his page enormously and he is currently one of the most influential Nigerians on Instagram. His page is amongst the most-visited page in Nigeria as people resort to his page for trending news and hilarious content. He currently has over 2.4 million followers on Instagram.

On the 22nd of December, 2020, his Instagram account was disabled following several violations of Instagram policies and reports from users. On the 10th of January, 2021 he reopened another Instagram account (@kingtundeednut), and many Nigerian celebrities including Davido, AY, Rudeboy, Don Jazzy, Funke Akindele, 2Baba, Mr. Macaroni, and a host of many others asked their followers to go follow Tunde Ednut’s new Instagram account and in 24 hours time, his new account amassed 800,000 new followers. In 2 days’ time, his account got a million followers which he celebrated with a million Naira giveaway to one of his followers but his joy was cut short as Instagram deactivated his new Instagram handle on the 13th of January, 2021.

Shizzi & Wande Coal Song Theft

In January 2016, when Tunde Ednut was still a musician, he was called out by Shizzi for stealing unreleased instrumental and lyrical content which he made for Wande Coal. According to Henry, a Wande Coal representative, Tunde Ednut came to the studio and heard the unreleased song and went on to have Masterkraft reproduce the same instrumental and used part of Wande Coal’s exact lyrics. He also released a music video for the song. Shizzi’s lawyer later wrote to Tunde Ednut and Masterkraft instructing them to take down the song and the video.


Model Photo Theft

In June 2014, Tunde Ednut was called out by netizens after he stole a photo of model, Robert Garrick, and posed as himself.

In an interview with Hip TV, Tunde Ednut stated that he did that on purpose in other to trend prior to releasing his song ‘Philomena’.

U.K Deportation

Former acquaintances of Tunde Ednut reported that he was deported from the UK after he stole an iPhone 5. According to the controversial Nigerian journalist Kemi Olunloyo, he was first locked up before being deported back to Nigeria.

Buga Won Video

After the release of the JJC Skillz-directed music video for his song ‘Buga Won’, Tunde was trending for the wrong reason. Nigerians called him out and described the music video as disastrous.

The music video showed hideously sun-tortured men buried under the beach sand and Tunde fully clad in a bathtub filled with water, amongst other things. In an interview, he said he wasn’t surprised by the feedback and according to him, it was all planned so that he can trend and the song can become popular.

Matse Uwatse (Food Blogger) Content Theft

Tunde Ednut was called out by Nigerian food blogger, Matse Uwatse for stealing her content/photo on Instagram. Initially, she just wanted credit for her content on his page and Tunde wasn’t up for that. She reported the photo to Instagram and the photo was taken down by Instagram.

The food blogger also accused Ednut of bullying and trying to silence creators who ask him for post credit. “You oppress and then you still insult. You built your page off other people’s content.”

He has had a series of internet battles and public display of hate/dislike for a lot of other public figures like Tacha of Big Brother Naija, Bobrisky, Tonto Dikeh, Wizkid, Joro Olumofin, Speed Darlington, Azubuike Michael Egwu, Harrysong, and many others.
