Edward Chukwuma-Ijah who is well known as Special Spesh is a Nigerian hype man and socialite. He was born on the 18th of August and hails from the eastern part of Nigeria. Special Spesh is the hype man of award-winning Nigerian singer-songwriter, Davido and a father to a 3-year-old son (Born 10th January 2018).

Special Spesh was a member of the now-defunct Mo’hits Records and used to be their hypeman of the likes of Wande Coal, D’banj, Don Jazzy and the then Mo’hit records crew.

During the early days of Davido’s career, while Special Spesh was still with Mo’hits, Davido asked Special Spesh to introduce him to D’banj and other Mo’hit records artists, Special Spesh took Davido to Mohits Mansion Maryland and linked Davido up with D’banj, Wande Coal, Kayswitch and Don Jazzy and told them that Davido would become one of the biggest names in African music.

D’banj later came up with the plan of signing Davido to DB Music (his record label), D’banj made a presentation of the record deal and the advantage to Davido’s father and he agreed. He also promised Davido that he will get the likes of Kanye West, big Sean on his songs if he signs the deal and Davido was ready to go but Special Spesh frustrated the plan and talked Davido out of it.

D’banj also made attempts to sign Olamide and May D but once again Special Spesh made the deal not to happen.

Special Spesh is currently the Head of Corporate Sponshorship for Davido Music Worldwide (DMW) (one of the biggest record labels in Nigeria).

Controversies

In August 2011 Special Spesh was arrested on three counts of financial transfer credit theft, forgery of the first degree and ID fraud in Futon County, Georgia.

His arrest attracted a $17,000 bond. Special Spesh however did not go to prison. He ended up doing community service although it isn’t  clear which charge he was convicted for.
