Euphemia Runyi Ekumah who is professionally known as GoodGirl LA is a Nigerian Afro-fusion singer and songwriter.

She was born on the 20th of February, 1995, and hails from Cross Rivers State, Nigeria.

Early Life & Family

Born and raised in Ajegunle, Lagos State, Nigeria, she was born into a family of six, where she is the second child out of four children. She completed her primary education at Kings Foundation Primary School and had her secondary school education at Hopebay College.

On completion of her Secondary school education, she secured an admission at the University of Calabar to study Nursing but had to forfeit her schooling in pursuit of a career in music.

Career

Before taking up the stage name ‘Goodgirl LA’ she was known as Laden. Her friends but because her friends wanted to stylize ‘Laden,’ they shortened it to ‘L.A’ which was too vague. Realizing she has a good heart and that she is a good person, she took the good part of herself, merged it with ‘LA’, and became GoodGirl LA.

As a child, she had a flair for music and was fond of mimicking Whitney Houston. She has participated in several Nigerian music competitions including Glo Naija sings and also the renowned Nigerian Idol. Against her father’s will, she dropped out of the University of Calabar where she was studying Nursing in pursuit of a music career. She later enrolled in the MUSON School of Music in Lagos, where she bagged a degree in the Theory of Music a move she is forever grateful to.

She made her debut in the Nigerian music industry in 2015 with the single “Faraway” and since then her career has been witnessing growth exponentially. She owns a record label of her own named GoodGirl LA Entertainment.
