
The Nigerian music industry is at an all-time high and the statistics from music streaming platforms, music shows, and social media constantly show the huge growth the industry is witnessing.
10 years ago, a Nigerian music video garnering up to 5 million views on YouTube was pretty much a big deal but in 2020, that is now a norm as many music videos by A-list artists eventually get at least 5 million views with time, and now a Hundred million views in now the new big deal.
In December 2018, Davido became the first Nigerian artist to hit the 100 million views landmark with the music video for his single ‘Fall’, Yemi Alade followed suit in January 2019 as her music video for the song ‘Johnny’ became the second Nigerian music video to hit the 100 million views landmark on YouTube, and on the 7th of March 2019, the music video for ‘Waymaker’ by Sinach hit 100 million views on YouTube, hence becoming the first Nigerian gospel music video to achieve this feat.
The music video for Fall by Davido is currently the most viewed Nigerian music video with 192 million views and it is followed by ‘On The Low’ by Burna Boy which currently has 177 million views.
