Top Ten Nigerian Songs in January 2021

As our manner is, we curate the hottest/trending songs in Nigeria on an annual and monthly basis. Rosbena comes through with the top ten Nigerian songs that were released in January 2021.

(1) Ayra Starr – Away


Mavin Records’ new signee, Oyinkansola Aderibigbe who is professionally known as Ayra Starr makes a good first-time impression with her debut self-named EP ‘Ayra Starr.

The project did so well that it displaced Wizkid’s Made In Lagos album from the number one position on Top Nigerian Albums on Apple Music, a position it has held for a very long time. ‘Away’ was the stand out track on the project, occupying the number position on Top 100: Nigeria on Apple Music for the latter end of January.

(2) Bella Shmurda – Rush


After rounding up 2020 emerging among the top ten Nigerian artists in 2020 with his hit record ‘Cash App’ featuring Zlatan & Lincoln making the list of Top Ten Nigerian songs in 2020, Bella Shmurda starts the new year on a good note as he scores another hit record with his new song ‘Rush’.

(3) Skiibii – Are You Vhere?


Skiibii has a record of creating a popular social media slang and making a hit record off of it. He did that once again in 2021 after starting the ‘Are You Vhere?’ slang on Instagram and following it up shortly with the song that went viral online and got massive airplay.

‘Are You Vhere?’ was produced by Rexxie and Fancy Beat.

(4) Kizz Daniel ft. Olamide, Falz & LK Kuddy – Currently


Flyboi Inc boss, Kizz Daniel releases his first single after the release of his album ‘King Of Love’ and the song was ‘Currently’.

He goes big on the collaboration as he joins forces with YBNL Nation boss, Olamide alongside Bahd Guys Record boss, Falz and LK Kuddy.

(5) Lil Frosh ft. Zinoleesky – Omo Ologo


After whetting fans’ appetite with the snippet of the song prior to its release, former DMW singer and Marlian Music recording artists, Lil Frosh and Zinoleesky didn’t cut the expectation of their fans short when the full song was released.

(6) DJ Manuel & Zlatan – My Life


Zanku Record boss, Zlatan introduces his new artist/DJ, DJ Manuel through the new collaboration ‘My Life’.

Zlatan reminisces on his early beginning and all he had to go through before success came his way.

(7) Jonzing World ft. Rema, D’Prince & Ruger – One Shirt


D’Prince’s Jonzing World gave us Rema, an artist that has risen to become one of the top A-list artists and with so many hit records in just a 2-year period so everyone was looking forward to what D’Prince & his label has in store when he announced the signing of his new artist, Ruger.

Ruger made his debut for the label on the record ‘One Shirt’ by Jonzing World featuring the record label boss, D’Prince alongside Rema and Ruger and they all did their thing on the record.

(8) Kcee & Okwesili Eze Group – Cultural Praise vol. 2


An elated and grateful Kcee, who is well aware of the goodness of God in his life, kick starts 2021 with the 2nd volume of his earlier released song ‘Cultural Praise’.

The Five Star Music general and the Okwesili Eze Group went on to praise God in the Igbo Language for 11 minutes non-stop on the record.

(9) Mr Real ft. Laycon & Zlatan – Baba Fela (Remix)


The record ‘Baba Fela’ was released in January 2020 on the EP ‘General of All Lamba’. The song became a hit record in the last quarter of 2020 after it went viral on social media and was used in videos that took quick turns from good to bad real quick.

Mr Real decided to drop a remix for the record and he teamed up with Zanku Record boss, Zlatan and the winner of the just-concluded BB Naija Lockdown edition winner, Laycon.

(10) D’Banj – Ikebe


Veteran Nigerian singer and songwriter, D’banj who is one of the richest musicians in Nigeria, proves that he still got it in him as he kickstarts 2021 with this impressive record titled ‘Ikebe’. The production credit for the song goes to the hitmaker, Rexxie.
