“By removing our President’s speech, Twitter needs to shutdown from Nigerian internet space” – Adamu Garba

Following Twitter’s decision to delete President Buhari’s Tweet about the Civil War, former Presidential candidate, Adamu Garba has asked that Twitter be banned and removed from the Nigerian internet space.

On Wednesday, June 2nd Twitter deleted President Buhari’s tweet where he made reference to the 1966 Civil war.

Adamu took to the micro-blogging platform to say that Twitter has no right to infuse into Nigeria’s local political affairs as it is a company and not a government.

Adamu wrote;

Twitter has no right to infuse into our local political affairs. It’s a company not a government. By removing our democratically elected President’s speech to the people of Nigeria, Twitter need to shutdown from Nigerian internet space. Twitter need to get out of Nigeria.

This is coming after the Federal Government accused the American Social networking company, Twitter for alleged double standards on issues concerning Nigeria’s domestic issues.

According to the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, Twitter’s role on issues concerning Nigeria is suspicious and Nigeria would not be fooled.
