INEC secretariat and police division in Anambra attacked by unknown gunmen

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and B Division of the Nigeria Police Divisional Station in Akwa, Anambra, were attacked by unknown gunmen on Sunday night, May 23.

Before proceeding to attack the INEC office, reports have it that the armed men who rode in three Hilux trucks first stormed the B Police Division where they shot sporadically into the air for over one hour.

The amount of damage caused by the gunmen is yet to be ascertained

The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the state police command, Tochukwu Ikenga, who said details are still sketchy and that he would release a statement as soon as he gets full details.
