According to Bloomberg News, Netflix’s recent series, Squid Game is worth up to $US900 million ($A1.2 billion) which has made it the biggest series for the streaming giant.
The nine-episode series is about contestants playing children’s games with deadly consequences to win a 45.6 billion ($A52 million) cash prize, which became a trending movie after it was released last month.
In comparison to its estimated net worth, $US21.4 million ($A28.8 million) was used to produce the series, Bloomberg said.
Also, up to 132 million people have watched at least two minutes of the show in its first 23 days, breaking a former record set by US drama Bridgerton, which was watched by 82 million people in its first 28 days.
Netflix also revealed that the show had gotten 111 million fans, but Bloomberg debunked the announcement saying the figures were based on slightly older data.
According to Netflix, an estimated 89% of accounts who started the show watched more than one episode, the news agency said, and 66 percent finished watching the series in the first 23 days.
