The Lagos state government has released a statement that the third mainland bridge will be closed tomorrow the 10th of April 2021 from 7:15am to 2pm. This closure is to ensure safety as the Lagos City Marathon takes place. According to the statement issued by Titi Oshodi-Eko the Spokesperson for Lagos State Sports Commission “Some parts of the metropolis will be shut for safety of thousands of runners, cheering fans and residents.”
She further explained road closure hours in the travel advisory saying “Alaka Road Service lane will be closed from 5.45 a.m. to 7.30 a.m; National Stadium to Ojuelegba, Dormanlong Bridge, Onipanu, Obanikoro and Anthony will be closed from 6.45. a.m. to 9 a.m.”
Also, “Anthony to Charly Boy Bus Stop to Oworonshoki will be closed from 7.15 a.m. to 9 a.m; from Adekunle Junction linking the Third Mainland Bridge will be closed from 7.30 a.m. to 2p.m.”
She conclusively said “Alternative routes has been provided to ease movement of residents who may not be watching the marathon live on television because they have urgent personal businesses to attend to,”.
