Nigerian Motivational/Inspirational Songs

The power of music cannot be overemphasized. Music can be used as a tool to instigate change in the society, turn a man’s heart to do good or propel him to do evil, it can be used to instigate change in the society, create awareness, and even trigger a revolution in a country.

While the majority of Nigerian musicians make songs that appeal to the clubs & parties and songs that are financially rewarding, some musicians went against the trend to deliver songs that are impactful to the fans and give them a hope of a better tomorrow and highlight the importance of hard work, patience, and consistency.

Music can drive someone to work hard and never give up and here are some Nigerian songs that do just that.

(1) Darey ft. Soweto Gospel Choir – Pray For Me

With the aid of Soweto Gospel Choir, Darey tells the tale of a young boy who decided to break out from his comfort zone in search of a better life.

He went against all odds and his parent’s decision to keep in his comfort zone and departed for the city and only asked for prayers from home. See the music video below.

(2) Victor AD – Wetin You Gain

Victor AD came into limelight in 2018 when his motivational single ‘Wetin You Gain’ became a street anthem in the country. The song was Victor’s first hit single and he questions his gain in the world if he doesn’t make money and become wealthy. The song was produced by Kizzy beat while the music video was directed by Director Dindu.

After the release of the song, the singer was blamed for over motivating the people and forcing them into unjust means of making money.

(3) Patoranking – Make Am

On this single, Patoranking remembers his old-time friend who switched up on him as soon as things got better for him. Patoranking advised everyone that anyone can be successful and you shouldn’t look down on anyone.

The song was produced by Jay Pizzle while the music video was directed by AJE Filmworks.

(4) Orezi – Double Your Hustle

Orezi urges his fans to work harder on this song as he sings about his former girlfriend who left him back in the days when things were bad for him not knowing that his future is bright. The song was produced by Kiddominant and the music video was directed by Paul Gambit.

The song was taken off his studio album ‘Ghen Ghen’ and it is the 5th song on the album.

(5) Teni & Phyno – Pray

Dr Dolor Entertainment songstress – Teniola Apata who is well known as Teni gets everyone emotional and prayerful with this record ‘Pray’ which featured Penthauze music boss – Phyno.

Teni states that even tho her Mum and Dad don’t have money, she has God. The song was produced by Jaysynths.

(6) P-Square ft. Dave Scott – Bring It On

The single ‘Bring It On’ by the defunct music group P-Square was released in the year 2014 and was the 3rd track on their album ‘Double Trouble (Bonus Track Version)’.

The duo featured English singer Dave Scott and the music video was directed by Jude ‘Engees’ Okoye and creative Clarence Peters.

(7) Victor AD ft. Davido – Tire You

After inspiring everyone with ‘Wetin You Gain’, the former Etins Record singer asks his fans if they aren’t tired of suffering already. He continues to push his agenda of hard work and consistency.

The song features DMW head honcho – Davido and it was produced by Kulboybeatz.

(8) Wizkid – Oluwa Loni

The then EME recording act, Wizkid sends a message to the fans that suffer doesn’t kill but makes you stronger as he reminisces on his days of one pair of one jeans and one shirt and one same shoe.

The song was taken off his debut album ‘Superstar’ and it was the 8th song on the album.

(9) Adekunle Gold – Work

Award-winning singer – Adekunle Gold dishes out advice to those who want to live an expensive life without putting in the work required to attain that life. The song was taken off his debut album ‘Gold’.

 

(10) BARRY JHAY – Aiye

Alongside a befitting music video, Cash Nation singer and songwriter reminds us of how we came empty-handed into the world and will also leave empty-handed.

The song was produced by Antras while the music video was directed by DK.

(11) Timaya ft. Flavour – Money

As things got better for Timaya, he reminisced on the treatment he got from people when thing was really rough for him.

The song features 2nite Music recording artist, Flavour.

(12) Adekunle Gold – Pick Up

Adekunle Gold gets expressive on the song as he lists out his heart desire and things he wants to God. The singer yearns for the listening ears of God on this one.

An unselfish Tekno puts his people before himself as he prays for a better life, not just for himself but for his people and his continent.

 

(16) Mr 2kay ft. Flavour – Ladder

On the educative song & music video, Mr 2kay alongside Flavour urges fans never forget their humble beginning as such will have a consequence(s).
