Over the years, legends and remarkable singers/songwriters have graced the Nigerian music scene but David Adedeji Adeleke who is professionally known as Davido is arguably one of Nigeria’s biggest music export.

The 27-year-old singer who came from an affluent family discovered his passion and keen for music during his school days at Oakwood University. With his archive of hit singles and successful albums, Davido has grown to become an icon in Africa and is slowly becoming a force to reckon with worldwide.

The singer currently has two studio albums, one E.P, and numerous singles but we will be looking at the top ten songs of his of all time.

Top Ten Davido Songs Of All Time

(1) Davido – Fall

Fall isn’t just Davido’s biggest song but Nigeria’s biggest/most popular song. The Kiddominant-produced song was released in June 2017 and went on hold the top spot in various music charts in Nigeria and Africa.

Two years after the release of the song, ‘Fall’ started catching up in the U.S and was steadily climbing the billboard chart until it peaked at the 13th position. The song was seen on the Instagram stories & videos of world-class celebrities and he eventually recorded a remix for the single with Cardi B but it wasn’t released officially due to resistance from her record label.

The music video was directed by Daps and is currently the most viewed African music video with over 150 million views on YouTube.

(2) Davido – If

After his plans to change his sound and become accepted globally failed abruptly, a frustrated and depressed Davido decided to return back home and stick to his original style that initially made Africans love him.

Tekno decided to be a helping hand during that trying time as he reached out to Davido and gave him the instrumental for the song and according to Wikipedia, Tekno ghostwrote the song.

Davido lets his lover know what she is in for and the benefits at hand ‘If’ he declares his love for her. The song was produced by Nigerian singer, songwriter, and music producer – Tekno while the music video was directed by Director Q.

(3) Davido – Aye

On this record, Davido gushes about his lover who isn’t sticking around for the money, fame or lifestyle, but just wants his love and is contented with that.

The music video portrays Davido as a local/poor boy in a village who won the heart of the queen, the wife of B-Red in the music video. Rumors had it that Nigerian singer – Runtown wrote the song for Davido, but Runtown later came out to clear the air stating that he wasn’t the writer of the song.

The song was produced by T Spize while the music video was directed by Clarence Peters.

(4) Davido – Fia

One thing you gotta love and can’t take away from Davido is his ability/mastery of utilizing terrible situations and turning it to his favor. Davido had just lost three of his friends in a week at the time and was in the limelight for the wrong reasons.

Fans were concerned and worried that the tragic events happening in the life of the singer would affect his career but unlike expected, he made a grand return with the single ‘Fia’ where he responded to ‘Carolina Danjuma’ who accused him of killing his friends. The song ‘Fia’ was written by Davido Music Worldwide & Golden Boy Entertainment singer – Peruzzi. The song was produced by Fresh VDM and the music video was directed by Clarence Peters. On the single, Davido declared the limit he would go for love.

(5) Davido – Assurance

Just like every other person who had just gotten into a relationship with someone they love, Davido was still overly excited about his newfound lover, Chioma, so much that he dedicated a song to her.

Davido assures Chioma of timeless and undying love as he prays and wishes that he gets drown if he ever leaves Chioma. Davido’s friendship with Chris Brown started after Chris Brown listened to ‘Assurance’ and got to like Davido.

The single was produced by Speroach Beatz while the music video was directed by Meji Alabi.

(6) Davido – Dami Duro

Every true fan of Davido knows that this song holds a special place in the heart of the singer as it was his first major hit song and even tho the singer now has so many hit songs, he only uses this record as his intro whenever he is playing a show.

In the song, Davido brags about his affluent background and how driving the girls crazy has become a norm for him. The song was produced by Shizzi and co-produced by Davido while the music video was directed by Clarence Peters.

(7) Davido ft. Chris Brown – Blow My Mind

For Davido, the song wasn’t just another international collaboration but more like a dream come true for the singer. Davido had always been a fan of Chris Brown but now they are more like friends and the collaboration happened organically without Davido having to pay for a feature and according to him, Chris Brown financed the music video.

The song was produced by Shizzi while the music video was directed by Edgar Esteves.

(8) Davido – Skelewu

The Shizzi-produced song was released in 2016 and became a trend at the time due to the dance step that came along with it. Davido employs his business acumen to drive the single ‘Skelewu’ to become a major hit record. The song was introduced alongside a dance instruction video with a reward of 3000 dollars cash price for the winner of the dance challenge.

The record was produced by Shizzi while the first music video which was later taken down by Davido was directed by Sesan before he employed Moe Musa for the shoot of the second and official music video.

(9) Davido – Gobe

On this record, Davido fantasizes about the physical endowment of a lady and acknowledges it as trouble. The title of the song ‘Gobe’ literally means ‘Trouble’ in the English Language.

The song was written by the upcoming Nigerian singer – Password who initially produced the song but later sold the song to Davido and Shizzi reproduced the song with his finesse touch.

(10) Davido ft. Meek Mill – Fans Mi

In retrospect, Davido and Meek Mill looked back on their early and struggling days when the money wasn’t there and the recall the ill-treatment they got from the girls and how the street showed them no love but according to them, all that is now in the past as they now got their dream car and dream chick.

The song was released in June 2015 and it was produced by Shizzi while the music video was directed by Sesan.
