Olalekan Olatunbosun Afolabi who was well known as Murphy Afolabi was a Nigerian Yoruba movie actor and filmmaker. He was born on the 5th of May 1974 in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria, and died on the 14th of May, 2023.

He hailed from Oroki Asala, Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria. Murphy came from a polygamous home and was one out of seven children. He is the third child of his father and the first son of the family.

Education

Murphy attended Ansar-u-deen Islamic Boys Junior and Senior Secondary High School. In 2001, he obtained a Higher National Diploma Degree from Osun State Polytechnic Iree where he studied Theatre Arts and Film Production.

Career

Murphy got into the movie industry at a very very young age. Then, he was working under the late legendary movie producer, Duro Ladipo. In the year 1998, under the guidance of late veteran actor, Fasasi Olabankewin, he made his onscreen debut.

Murphy has since starred in numerous movies and became famous for his funny Osun accent and H-factor. His movies were mostly about the Oduduwa cultural heritage & beliefs and also that of street gang members’ lifestyle.

Murphy was also a director, scriptwriter, and movie producer and owns a YouTube channel ‘Murphy Afolabi TV’. Murphy was also a well-to-do businessman. He owned a travel agency named Schemelink and also owned Fatuns Films Production.
