Isaac Ayomide Olayiwo popularly known as Layi Wasabi is a Nigerian online comedian, actor, influencer, and lawyer.

He was born on the 11th of July, 2001, and hails from Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria.

Education

Layi Wasabi completed his primary and secondary school education in Osogbo, Osun State. On completing his secondary school, at the age of 15, he enrolled in Bowen University and graduated from the institution with a Law degree.

Layi Wasabi completed his NYSC program in Ibadan, Oyo State and he revealed that his NYSC program experiences inspired his comedy skits.

Career

Layi’s comedy career started as far back as when he was still in JSS2, then he would make his classmates laugh so hard.

In secondary school, he formed the drama group called ‘The Emerald Star’ and headed the group till SS3. Layi revealed that he felt alive on stage and during rehearsals and that’s how he knew he wanted to be an entertainer.

In 2017, he started sharing comedy skits online and his unique storyline & concept made him stand out quickly from the rest of the online comedians. He had his first big breakthrough in 2018 when he got to perform at the AY Live comedy show.

During his NYSC in Ibadan, he met a lawyer who is the inspiration for his lawyer character.

Layi is also an actor and has starred in some movies (see his filmography below).

Awards & Accolades

On the 18th of July, 2021, the Law Students’ Society, LSS, Bowen University awarded him the Most Entertaining Personality.

In 2023, he won the Emerging Force award at Trendupp Awards ’23.

He also won Revelation of the Year at the Nigeria Comedy Awards in 2023.

Layi Wasabi isn’t married yet and has no child yet. At the age of 2, his father died and he was taken care of by his mother and other family members. While growing up, he was very close to his mother. He grew up in Osogbo, Osun State, Nigeria.
