Career/Story
Ola of Lagos is well known for the slang ‘It’s Plenty’ & ‘I will never be poor’ but it wasn’t always plenty for the car influencer and he was indeed once poor. Just like in old cliche Nollywood movies, in 2019 Ola of Lagos left his village/hometown, Owode in Ogun State to Lagos State in search of greener pastures, an act that would eventually change his life forever.
At the time, he knew just one person in the whole of Lagos, a friend named Ope. On his way to Lagos, Ola contacted his friend Ope who lied to him that he resided in Ajah and had a house where he could stay when he arrived, but on getting to Lagos, Ola found out that his friend was just a laborer who had no place of his own and was squatting in an uncompleted building in Ikoyi where he worked at. Left with no other choice, Ola decided to stay with his friend in the uncompleted building but that turned out to be a very bad idea. When night came, as Ola was about to go to sleep in the uncompleted building, he was chased out by the security because he wasn’t working there and Ola was left stranded. The same night, Ola boarded a bus going to Ajah from Ikoyi, and Ola eavesdropped on some laborers on the bus. When one of them was about to alight from the bus, Ola followed him, knelt down, and begged him to accommodate him just for the night as he had no place to go. Luckily for Ola, the stranger was a kind fellow who gave Ola accommodation and feeding for the night.
The next morning, Ola left and went back to his friend, Ope, who had then lost his job for bringing in a stranger (Ola) to sleep in the building. With both of them now jobless, they stuck together and roamed the streets of Lagos, looking for uncompleted buildings to work at and also sleep in at night.
Ola and his friends worked as laborers in an uncompleted building for weeks, until Ola decided to make a change in his life and he applied for a cleaning job in an office space in Ikoyi. While working as a cleaner in the office space in Ikoyi, Ola was still squatting in the uncompleted building where he worked previously and at this time, the security was already threatening to throw him out as he didn’t want to lose his job since Ola wasn’t working there anymore. Ola then went on to inform his manager at work that he doesn’t have an accommodation and his manager promised to do something about that.
Two weeks later, Ola got an even better cleaning job, one that came with accommodation too. 25 people reportedly applied for the job but Ola was the only one that eventually secured the job. At his new job, he worked as a cleaner in Ikoyi and was paid 17,500 Naira monthly, and at the end of the day’s work, Ola also cleaned people’s homes in Lekki in order to make more money. It was during this time he witnessed and fell in love with the luxurious lifestyle of the rich & wealthy Lagosians.
Ola was always fascinated whenever he saw luxurious cars and he would bring out his phone and make videos and share them on Instagram. At the time, his videos weren’t doing so well online due to the poor quality of his camera.
Ola then saved 12,000 Naira from his salary, bought a better phone, and continued making videos and sharing them on Instagram out of excitement and fun. He would comment on the model of the car and hype the car while the car drove off on the busy Lagos road and sometimes he would beg the owner of the car to let him take videos and pictures of the car while making commentary so that he could share them on his Instagram page. What started out as just a thing of passion and fun turned out to be his life changer when popular influencer/blogger, Tunde Ednut picked interest in him and started sharing his videos on his Instagram page which is one of the most-followed Nigerian Instagram profiles. Tunde Ednut followed him on Instagram and this encouraged him to remain consistent.
When Tunde Ednut hit 2 million followers on Instagram, he decided to gift a random lucky follower 2 million Naira, a raffle draw was made and Ola of Lagos emerged as the lucky winner, bagging the 2 million Naira. In addition to that, Davido promised him an all-expense paid trip to a Dubai car fashion show.
As Tunde Ednut continued to share his content, Ola of Lagos saw his followership increase rapidly and he started making money from cars & luxurious products promotion. Right now, Ola of Lagos is the biggest car reviewer in Nigeria and he now owns his own car dealership, Ola Of Lagos Autos.

As a vivid lover of cars, it is only right for Ola of Lagos to own nice cars too. Following his newfound success, Ola bought a Lexus IS250 in 2022.
