Sundar attended Jawahar Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School in Ashok Nagar, Chennai, and completed the Class XII from Vana Vani school at IIT Madras. He obtained a degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur.
