Mabel Makun is a Nigerian interior designer, businesswoman, and the wife of popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Ayo Makun popularly known as AY.

She was born on the 30th of March, 1986, and hails from Delta State, Nigeria.

Education

Mabel Makun holds a degree in Business Administration which she obtained from Delta State University (DELSU). She also studied at the University of Arts London Central Saint Martins.

Career

Mabel is an interior designer, actress, and businesswoman. She is the founder and CEO of Midas Interiors Limited, a company that was founded in 2012.

Mabel is also an actress, she starred in the movie Fate of Alakada in 2020 and starred in the movie Almajiri in 2022.

Personal Life

On the 29th of November, 2008, Mabel got married to popular Nigerian comedian and actor, Ayo Makun who is professionally known as AY.

AY and Mabel met during their school days at Delta State University. At the time, AY was the organizer of The Most Beautiful Girl in the DELSU pageant and DELSU Achievers Merit Awards and all he wanted was for Mabel to be among the contestants.

They have two children, their first daughter’s name is Michelle Makun and their second daughter’s name is Ayomide Makun.

Controversy

On the 18th of January, 2024, Mabel took to Instagram to inform her followers that she was being abused mentally and that someone was threatening her life. She stated that she was headed to the police station and that if anything happened to her, one person should be held responsible.

Even tho she didn’t mention any name in her post, netizens were quick to tag her husband, AY as the person that she is talking about.

Shortly after the report, she and her husband AY unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Some Nigerians were furious about the whole situation and called her out for not mentioning any name. According to them, if she was serious about alerting the public, then she should have mentioned a name. Some netizens also felt the move was a stunt to promote her husband’s newly released movie Merry Men 3: Nemesis which was released on the same day that she made the Instagram post.

Mabel deleted all the cryptic posts on Instagram shortly after.
