BNXN (Buju) Biography, Songs, Career, Net Worth

Daniel Benson who is professionally known as BNXN (pronounced as Benson) is a Nigerian singer and songwriter. He was born on the 19th of May, 1997 in Lagos, Nigeria and hails from Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria.

Education

Buju attended Babcock University at Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State, Nigeria.

Early Life & Career

Buju was born in  Gbagada where he spent his formative years before relocating to Mowe in Ogun State. Growing up in an area where the people spoke the Yoruba language a lot, with the help of his mother, he was able to learn the language in order not to be confused when people speak the language.

His life took a different turn when he lost his mother to cancer at a very young age. He had great love & passion for music when he was still in secondary school and then he used to rap & freestyle a lot.

At the time, his nickname was Drizzle because he used to bet-wet then, he wanted to go with the name Drizzy but Drake already bears the name.

On getting into the University, his love for music/becoming a musician was eventually suppressed for a while as he got to meet people who he felt were better musically than him.

His love for music got rekindled later on and in 2017, when he was doing his IT, he used to listen to songs by the likes of Burna Boy, Buju Banton, J Hus, Damian Marley, and the likes. He hated his job back then during his IT days and eventually got fired for coming late. Then he used most of his free time to visit Fela Shrine, smoke up, and write some songs.

Highly loved & influenced by Buju Banton and also as a chubby kid that he was, he got the stage name ‘Buju’, a Jamaican slang that is used as a nickname for chubby children and it means breadfruit. In order to give more meaning or add depth to the name, he assigned it as an acronym for ‘Beauty Underneath Just Understood’.

Buju came into the limelight when he got a feature from the Zanku Record boss, Zlatan Ibile on his song ‘Spiritual’.

Since then, it has been from one consistent growth in Buju’s career. In April 2020, Buju got signed by Burna Boy to Spaceship Entertainment and they dropped the remix of the song ‘L’enu’ with a music video. Buju later decamped from the record label peacefully and started his own record label, To Your Ears Entertainment. His career continued to witness significant growth as he bagged hit records/collaborations over and over again (See his discography below).

On the 18th of February, 2022, he changed his stage name from Buju to BNXN (pronounced as Benson).
