Caresha Romeka Brownlee who is popularly known as Yung Miami is an American rapper, singer-songwriter, and model.

She was born on the 11th of February 1994 by Keenya Young in Miami, Florida, United States. Yung Miami is one-half of the American hip-hop duo, City Girls.

Education

Yung Miami attended Carol City Middle School in Miami. She dropped out of college to chase a career in music.

Career

Yung Miami is well known as one-half of the popular music group, City Girls. The group comprises of Yung Miami and Jatavia Shakara Johnson who is popularly known as JT.

Yung Miami and JT met each other through a mutual friend and went on to form a music group. In order to make ends meet, Yung Miami and JT started performing at Block parties, Strip Clubs and Night Clubs.

From a very young age, she has been a big fan of trap music and used to listen to a lot of trap music. Her godmother Trina is also a rapper.

In 2017, the group released their debut song titled “Fu*k Dat Ni**a”, a diss track for their ex-boyfriends for not giving them money when they asked.

In May 2018, City Girls put out their debut studio mixtape titled “Period”.

City Girls became very famous in 2018 when their vocals made it to Drake’s hit song “In My Feelings” with Yung Miami appearing in the music video while her music partner, JT was in jail at the time. City Girls eventually got signed to Quality Control Music.

Yung Miami released her debut solo single, “Rap Freaks” on the 29th of October, 2021.

Personal Life & Family

In May 2010, Yung Miami started dating Jai Wiggins and their relationship lasted for years. On the 26th of June, 2013, she had her first son with Jai Wiggins, a baby boy named Jai Malik Wiggins Jr. Their relationship ended in 2015 due to domestic violence as Jai Wiggins beat Yung Miami brutally.

Yung Miami called the police and later visited the hospital for facial and internal injuries treatment. Jai Wiggins was shot dead in 2020.

In October 2018, Yung started dating Southside (Joshua Howard Luellen). On the 18th of October, 2019, she had a daughter for Southside named Summer Miami Luellen. While she was pregnant with her second child, she was shot at in Miami while leaving Circle House Studios but she came out unhurt. Southside and Yung Miami formally broke up in 2020.

After almost a year of speculation, American rapper, Diddy confirmed that he is dating Yung Miami in June 2022.

Yung’s Parents

Very little to no information is available about her father but her mother is Keenya Young. Keenya was sentenced to jail in 2017 for her first attempt at murder. In March 2021, she got bailed.

Controversies

In 2013, Yung stated that she wouldn’t want her son to be gay and that if she finds out that her son is gay, she would beat him up. She received a lot of backlash for her comment as many stated that it was homophobic.

Yung eventually apologized through an Instagram post but she came under heat once again after her Breakfast Club interview when Charlamagne Tha God questioned her about her controversial tweet that claimed what she would do if she found out that her son was gay.

Yung Miami replied that her tweet was specifically about her son and has nothing to do with the LGBTQ community.

She said, “I was just talking about my son. I just said that if I saw anything gay in my son, that I would beat him”.

The rapper attempted to provide clarity for what she had actually meant. She elaborated, “But that’s just like when your mama be like, ‘If you break my table I’m gonna beat the shit out of you.’ That don’t mean she’s gonna beat the shit out of you, she’s just saying it.”

While she stood by her comment that as a mother she does not want a gay son, Yung Miami insisted that she does not harbor any resentment towards gay people. She explained that she spends much time around many gay people, including her cousin and hairstylist.
