Kizz Daniel – My G Lyrics Translation & Explanation

In this post, I’ll be translating and explaining the lyrics of the new song ‘My G’ by Kizz Daniel.

The song is from Kizz Daniel’s new album ‘Maverick’, a 20-track album with ‘My G’ being the 2nd track on the album. The song was produced by DJ Coublon and was recorded in Yoruba language and Nigerian Pidgin. So I’ll be translating the Yoruba part to English for Non-Yoruba speakers and the Nigerian Pidgin part into English language for non-Nigerians.

My G
Sho lowo?
Sho lowo tole spend on your own?
(Sho lo wo?)
My G omo dey your own
Vado

My G. My G means My guy or like My friend
Sho Lowo? Means Do you have money?
Sho lowo tole spend on your own?
Do you have money you can spend on your own? Money you can spend freely without anyone’s permission?
My guy stay on your own
Vado is Kizz Daniel’s nickname.

Ko Kan aye what I do with my life
If you no like am pe Fatima

Ko kan aye what I do with my life literally means It’s not anybody’s business what I do with my life
If you no like am pe Fatima, if you don’t like it, call Fatima

Ko kan aye what I do with my money
If I go broke I go contain am

Kizz Daniel is saying It’s not anyone’s business what he does with his money
if he goes broke he’ll be fine or he’ll manage it

Thanks for your concern I get manager
So no worry about me, worry about your hairline

He is basically saying it is not your business to worry about me, I have a manager whose job is to worry about me. So instead just worry about your hairline that is receding or going back.

Underrated but I’m still cashing out
E go shock you say I get money pass your fave

Kizz Daniel has been dropping hit songs nonstop since 2014 but somehow he never gets into the conversation of the biggest/greatest Afrobeat musicians. So some people are of the opinion that he is underrated as he doesn’t get the accolade that he deserves. Here Kizz Daniel is saying Ok! He is underrated but cashing out/making money regardless and you will even be surprised that he is richer than your favorite musician.

*Chorus has already been explained

Verse 2

Ko kan aye if you rubbish my talent
No be you I sing for, no be your apartment

It’s not anybody’s business if you make joke of my talent
You are not the one I sing for and it’s neither for your household

I can guess you stay with your mummy and daddy
At 35 wa gba yi

Wa gba yi means get respect/honor. Kizz Daniel is talking about those making fun of his music, he is taking a guess that they still live with their parents even at the age of 35. He is asking them to get some respect by getting their live/finance together first.

Ko kan aye if I no win Grammy
If I no win Grammy I go still win Grammy

It’s no one’s business If I don’t win a Grammy
If I didn’t win Grammy, I will still win Grammy

Repete repete to ma po bi Vitamin C
Ma tun dami si ohh for me

Plenty plenty like Vitamin C
Ma tun dami si – I would even pour it water

*Chorus already explained in the beginning

Ko kan aye if you get 35 houses
Na only one house you go stay at once

It is not anyone’s business if you have 35 houses, at the end of the day it is only in one house you’ll stay in at once

And when you die them go sell all
Use the money buy motor
Bash am in one month

When you die, all your 35 houses will be sold and the money will be used to buy a car
And that is not even the worst part, after one month, they will still end up bashing the car they bought with proceeds from all your handwork while you were alive.

Ko kan aye
If I step on you go the next level
Aye ofe mago mago o
Yellow yellow

Kizz Daniel is saying It’s not anyone’s business if he steps on you or uses you as a stepping stone to get to the next level
Aye one mago mago means life hates a dull person
That’s you have to be sharp/smart or else you deserve to be used as a stepping stone for other’s success.
