Controversies

Carter Efe made his music debut with the song “Machala” featuring Berri-Tiga and the song went on to do wonders. All seemed to be going well for the comedian-cum-singer until Berri-Tiga who featured on his song called him out on social media. Berri-Tiga accused Carter of trying to dupe him off the proceeds from their hit song “Machala”. Berri-Tiga disclosed that Carter Efe and Sydney talker had offered to pay him off with just N100,000 for the song while they take all the proceeds from streaming and sales of the song. Berri-Tiga declined the offer and again Carter offered a 95 to 5% split of the songs’ proceed with Carter walking home with 95% and Berri-Tiga with just 5%. Berri-Tiga expressed his frustration, stating that Carter has been going to shows without carrying him along or even tagging him on social media on posts relating to the song. Carter fired back at Berri-Tiga online, calling him ungrateful and saying that it is because of issues like these that many people prefer not to help others. The controversy earned Carter the nickname “Machala the ripper”. Nigerian songstress, Fave SZN, and Chocolate City Music rapper, Blaqbonez took sides with Berri-Tiga and called out Carter online. Carter replied, calling Fave an “old meat” who should mind her business. Blaqbonez and Carter Efe’s beef escalated and they were at loggerheads online trolling each other. They quickly settled their beef and followed each other online.
