I became David’s girlfriend from that day. I took my new car home and my parents as usual asked where I had gotten it from.
When I explained to them who had purchased it for me, my father asked to meet David.
I had been scared that David would reject to see them as it was too soon but when I had told him he excitedly accepted to see them.
When David came my dad had scrutinized him thoroughly and bombarded him with questions about his intentions about me, the questions were so uncomfortable that I felt uneasy but David had answered them all. At the end of the meeting, my father was particularly pleased and gave us his blessings.
That night my father knocked on my door and asked to speak with me. I unlocked the door and ushered him in.
He sat on the side of the bed and patted his side indicating for me to come to sit by him. I sat down and he cleared his throat and began.
“Mary, I know you must be guessing about what I wanted to say tonight and I won’t keep you guessing for too long and get straight into it,” he said
“Okay dad,” I said
“It is about the man you brought to this house today, I know you are old enough to take care of yourself now but I’m still a father after all and I won’t stop worrying about you”
“I know, Dad”
“That young man is nice, level headed and pleasant enough but I want you to know that men will always be men, I want you to be careful and guide your chastity exceedingly”
“I want you to be patient and do not give yourself to a man who has promised to marry you, only give yourself to the man you have married”
“Promises are nothing but fervent intentions and most of them are lies, you’ve kept yourself so far and I want you to know that I am proud of you but do not let flimsy and paltry gifts take leave of your senses and make you make decisions based on mere promises”
“I hope you understand?” He asked “Yes I do, Dad”
“Very good, I know tomorrow is a workday so I’ll leave you to get some sleep,” he said getting home from the bed.
He walked to where I sat and pull me close to him and kissed my head
“I know you will make me proud” he declared, opened the door, and walked out of my room.
Everything he said stayed with me all through the night, I was enormously disturbed and didn’t get much sleep that night until morning.
My relationship with David wasn’t taken so well with my colleagues at work, many revered me for it, while many others envied me.
As soon as they found out, none of them wanted to be close to me and had left me to my device, even though I tried to talk with them they ignored me.
I had to live with that in the office and minded my business, David and I were discreet while in the office trying to take our relationship out of the workplace.
Our relationship well pretty well for a few months until he began asking for sexual intercourse.
I had vehemently refused him of it and he had asked me what was wrong with me, he further explained that he was going to marry me and there was nothing wrong with being sexually involved before our wedding but I had profusely resisted him.
The worst of all the fights was when I had gone to his place, he begged me to let him have his way with me and when I had refused he wanted to force his way with me. I gave him a hard slap across his face and ran out of his house. Read the next chapter (17) Here!
